Specialist heavy lifting and precision placement from our Mountrath, Co. Laois base. Palfinger PK135 (20-tonne, 36 metre reach) and PK76 cranes. ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 certified. Family-run since 1979.
A HiAb is a lorry-mounted hydraulic crane that can self-load, self-unload, and reach into places a standard forklift cannot access. The name comes from the original Finnish manufacturer (Hydrauliska Industri AB) and has become the generic term for crane lorries across Europe.
Hire a HiAb when a delivery has to be lifted into position - over a fence, onto a roof, behind a building, into a yard with restricted access, or precisely placed on a foundation. It is also the right answer when an item is too heavy for a forklift but does not justify a full mobile crane.
Two Palfinger cranes covering the full range of lifting requirements.

20-tonne lifting capacity at the base, 1.6 tonnes at 35 metre reach. 36 metre horizontal boom, 40+ metre vertical. Hydraulic outriggers and full radio remote control.
Best for: heavy industrial lifts, telecoms masts, multi-storey access, oversized machinery, over-roof placements.

Smaller-capacity crane with a more compact setup footprint than the PK135. Designed for general HiAb work where the PK135 would be overspecified.
Best for: standard pallet lifts, smaller machinery delivery, urban access, multi-drop jobs.
Each truck pairs with a dual-trained operator (also banksman-qualified). For complex multi-crew lifts we can supply an additional lift supervisor.
Lift capacity figures are manufacturer maxima. Real-world capacity depends on radius, ground conditions, and site setup - confirmed during site assessment.
Industrial deliveries that need lifting into place - not just dropping off.
Industrial equipment placed precisely on foundations - skates, jigs, alignment work.
See machine installationMonopoles, 5G masts, antennas. The PK135 reach handles 30 metre+ vertical placements in one lift.
See telecoms installationWide or oversized cargo that needs self-offload at the destination.
See abnormal load transportConstruction materials lifted off the lorry directly into the building.
Standby generators placed on prepared bases or inside switchrooms.
Bulk fuel tanks, water tanks, ISO containers positioned in tight yards.
Real jobs, real constraints, real outcomes.

Location: Industrial processing facility
Item lifted: Large ductwork and equipment components
Constraint: Outdoor site, no separate mobile crane available
Outcome: All components placed safely on schedule with the PK135 self-deploying on site

Location: County Galway (collected from Kildare)
Item lifted: 27-metre monopole in 3 x 9 metre sections
Constraint: Rural Galway site requiring full vertical lift in one day
Outcome: Mast fully assembled and standing within a single day; antenna fitment proceeded on schedule

Location: Dublin warehouse under construction
Item lifted: Heavy steel beams and structural framework
Constraint: Indoor placement requiring HiAb driven inside the building
Outcome: All beams positioned without needing a separate mobile crane
We quote per job. Here is what we factor in.
Laois jobs are the most economical. Cork or Donegal involves overnight travel time and is priced accordingly.
A 5-tonne lift at 20 metre boom is a different job from a 1-tonne lift at 35 metre boom. We match the right crane (PK135 vs PK76) to the job.
Yard width, ground conditions, overhead lines, traffic plan. Steel ground mats, traffic management, or escort vehicles are factored in.
Road authority notification for over-public-road lifts adds 5-10 working days and a council fee.
Single-operator jobs include the banksman role. Complex multi-crew lifts need an additional lift supervisor.
Send us the job details (weight, reach, site, timeframe) and we will come back to you with a quote.

Yes - the operator is banksman-trained. For complex multi-crew lifts we can supply an additional lift supervisor.
We handle road authority notification and traffic management. The lead time depends on the council but is typically 5-10 working days.
Book the slot in advance. The more notice you can give, the more flexibility there is on date and crane choice. Where a road permit is required, allow 5-10 working days for council approval before the lift date.
The PK135 has 36 metres horizontal at the boom tip. Most over-roof and rear-of-property lifts are within range.
We assess before quoting. Where ground is soft we supply steel mats and spreader plates so outriggers do not sink.
We quote per job for clarity. Hourly available where the lift sequence is open-ended (e.g. multi-storey fit-out).
Tell us the job, location, weight, reach required, and your timeframe. We will come back to you with a quote and a date that suits.
