Kirwan Haulage offers secure indoor and outdoor warehousing at our facility in Mountrath, Co. Laois. A dedicated loading bay, forklift capacity from 2 tonnes up to 7 tonnes, and flexible storage arrangements let us act as a third-party warehouse and distribution partner for manufacturers and importers who need stock held in the Irish midlands and moved out to customers when orders land. Our central location gives us straight-line road access to Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, and the midlands without the congestion of a capital-city depot.
The service works best where our customers want a single supplier for both the storage and the distribution. Stock arrives on articulated trailer, is offloaded into indoor or outdoor storage depending on the product, and is then picked, loaded, and delivered on our own fleet. One point of contact, one invoice, one chain of custody from arrival to final drop.

Covered, secure facilities for weather-sensitive goods
Hard-standing space for steel, containers, and equipment
Purpose-built bay for safe loading and unloading
Easy access to M7, M8, and all major routes
Goods typically arrive with us by articulated trailer, either from an Irish supplier or as inbound freight from the UK or mainland Europe. We unload with our 7-tonne, 3-tonne, or 2-tonne forklifts depending on the product, check the consignment in against paperwork, and place it into either the covered indoor warehouse or the hard-standing outdoor yard. Indoor storage suits weather-sensitive goods, palletised stock, and items that need to stay dry and clean. The outdoor yard handles long products, heavy-duty materials, containers, and large plant that tolerates the weather.
When orders come in, we pick the required stock, assemble the load, and dispatch it on our own fleet. For multi-customer runs we consolidate drops across a route to give each customer a better delivered cost than they would get sending part-loads individually. For single-customer jobs we send the load direct.
Tornado Wire is one of the customers we warehouse and distribute for. Their fencing and wire products are manufactured in the UK and shipped across to our Mountrath facility in bulk. We hold the stock, pick orders as they come in from Tornado Wire’s Irish customers, and run the deliveries on our own fleet, including regular multi-drop routes out to West Kerry. The arrangement means Tornado Wire does not need to run their own Ireland-wide distribution network - they send one inbound load and we do the rest.
Our warehousing operation is built around moving goods efficiently in and out, not just storing them:
Because warehousing sits alongside our core general haulage business, the same operation that stores your stock also delivers it. That removes the friction of handing off between a third-party warehouse and a third-party haulier. Kirwan trucks collect from supplier, Kirwan staff check it in, Kirwan forklifts move it, Kirwan drivers deliver it. You get one supplier, one point of contact for any issue on the route, and a single invoice covering both ends of the service.
Mountrath, Co. Laois sits on the M7 corridor between Dublin and Limerick, roughly central to the island. From our depot we reach Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford, Kilkenny, Kildare, and the midlands counties inside a standard working shift. We run regularly in each direction, which means your stock is usually only hours away from any customer in the Republic, with Kildare and Kerry both covered on scheduled runs. Northern Ireland and UK mainland deliveries are handled through our freight forwarding service when required.
The stock we hold for customers typically falls into a few categories: construction and fencing materials such as wire products and shoring equipment; general palletised goods for retail and distribution; agricultural supplies; and import consolidation, where goods arriving from the UK or mainland Europe are held at Mountrath and then re-distributed to Irish customers. If your product line does not fit neatly into one of those sectors, get in touch - in most cases the question is simply about handling equipment, footprint, and turnover rate rather than sector as such.
Typical starting questions: how much space do you need, what is the product, how often does stock turn over, and do you need us to pick-and-deliver or just hold the goods? Send those details through our contact form and we will come back with a quote and a proposed arrangement. Specific capacities (exact pallet positions, square footage) are confirmed at quoting stage based on current utilisation.
